233 Years & Going STRONG!!!

Happy Birthday to our Beloved Corps. 233 years old today! At Tun Tavern November 10th 1775 the Marine Corps. was born. For Honor, For Country...Semper Fidelis!!!

Jon called to wake me this morning with an early but sweetly sung rendition of the Marine Corps Hymn. Lt. Bass celebrated with his Marines today in IRAQ cutting the birthday cake, drinking beers (2 per marine) & smoking cigars. The age old cake cutting tradition is one of my favorites...the oldest Marine present takes a bite and then passes it to the youngest Marine who also takes a bite. Symbolizing the passing of knowledge from the oldest to the youngest. Today at Jon's celebration, the oldest Marine was a Master Gunnery Sergent (42) and the youngest a Lance Corporal (18). Most Marines & their wives danced the night away at USMC Birthday Balls all over the state, sadly when your Marine is deployed you don't get to go to the ball. Even still, I'll be celebrating with friends & neighbors tonight. Happy Birthday USMC!

Is the base having another Ugly Gown Ball for the wives of deployed Marines? It was fun in the past and you wear crazy outfits...like 1970s bride-maid dress, and dance the night way like you are at a Birthday Ball celebrate. Happy Birthday USMC!
