Our Neighborhood "Ocotillo Heights" is surrounded on 3 sides by the Officer's Golf Course. The mountain range in the distance is also part of the base although it's not part of mainside. Much of the actual USMC training happens on the other side of those mountains. At times when I'm walking Baker we'll see explosions & hear gun fire from across the mountains. Lets just say I'm thankful they put alittle distance between the Marines & their families when it comes to training. (Do not be fooled by the green grass in the picture, the golf course is one of the few places it grows)

ok so theres nothing green out there. but man, those mountains are stark beauty. very raw, as you've said. plus, you're wearing green and are smiling your ever bright smile...that counts for a lot!
