Hello from Sunny California!!!

Baker & Margot's first Joshua Tree Hike

Hello friends & family...we've made it to 29 Palms California. Jon officially checked in on the 18th of January and after a busy week filled with tears on my part & stressful days for Jon... the Lord & Lincoln Military Housing provided us with a beautiful home here at the USMC Base. Our things arrived relatively soon after that and with almost 4 weeks under our belt we have so many things to be thankful for...although a bit rocky at times it is obvious that the Lord has paved the ways for us here in CA! Getting to see Jon every day is now a sweet memory of the past. His job as the 3/7 India Company Platoon Commander is quite demanding & he's gone from about 4:30am-9:00pm. His day is filled with meetings, classes, instructional periods, weapon ranges & all that comes with managing the lives of 60 eighteen year old guys.

"Jon told me just the other day that he's thankful we're waiting to have kids because one more might push him over the edge, 60 was plenty"

While Jon works...I have kept myself busy unpacking boxes, walking Baker, meeting our new neighbors, decorating our home, getting involved in a women's bible study & the Officer's Wives Club. I'm thinking about looking for a job on base but for now I have plenty to do just trying to get established here in 29 Palms. The desert, is not that bad. We have beautiful weather, cold in the mornings & evenings, but during the day the sun is out and everyone's in short sleeves. For mid-February we really can't complain...the wind & sand are another story but for the most part we just say it's like the beach without the ocean.
