San Diego Zoo

We have really been enjoying our time in sunny San Diego, Jon is really trying to butter me up with all the GREAT things California has to offer before taking me to 29 Palms for the first time. We spent a lovely afternoon at the World-Famous San Diego Zoo in beautiful Balboa Park. It was the best Zoo Experience we've ever had, for some reason the animals here in California must love that 65-75 degree temperature range because they're so much more active here!!!

These Kissing Hippos were a sight to see, when on land their bellies dragged on the ground but as soon as they got into the water they were like bouncing blimps: their size was something to behold.

This Male Gorilla was some 350 pounds, he was Jon's favorite & supposedly the leader of the pack. Before he got up to move he was sleeping with his arms & legs crossed, just like a man in a recliner after a good meal and a football game.

Our First Panda Experience, you'd think they would be soft & cuddly by the zoologist said their hair is quite coarse...who knew?

Just giving a 2-humped Camel shout out the Humphries Clan, hail to the family animal!!!

The koala cages are quite pleasant because the fresh smell of eucalyptus covers all the other animal smells that usually tend to linger @ zoos...they were quite cute. All in all it was a fabulous day, and a wonderful way to make some new California memories.
