Today: Monday, August 25th 2008 will be the last day Jon & I have together for the next 7 months. He leaves for IRAQ tomorrow...and even though we've been preparing for this day for the past 20 months, on some level there's no way to truly prepare for something like this. I find comfort in the fact that thousands of wives have gone before me, sending their husbands off to war facing even greater uncertainty than what we face today. We continue to be reminded of God's sovereignty & His perfect plan for each of our lives. We know that our days are numbered regardless of whether or not you're a soldier. I just ask that you'd pray for communication & lots of it...they say one of the greatest challenges during a deployment is lack of communication. We don't know yet if Jon will have access to phone & internet, so we'd appreciate your prayers!
I am not looking forward to my alarm going off tomorrow, it seems like the beginning of the end. I just pray it goes by quickly...

Oh Margot! You and Jon are in our prayers. We love you both!
You are both in my prayers! As I texted you earlier today, if you need anything I'm here....just a couple of doors down from you. If you need a friend, a meal, or just simply a distraction (Madison is good at that) I will be here ready to do whatever you need, at whatever moment! Hang in there friend!
Oh Margot, I WILL be praying for you and for Jon in this challenging time apart! I can't imagine how hard it would be... I know God will sustain you during this time. Miss you lots!
love & prayers,
Allison
You can do it! And we are here with you! Jon is being lifted up in lots of prayers as are you! You'll get sick of me and Cailyn in the next 7!
Praying the send off is peaceful & sweet today. I love you both dearly & have been praying for this day that the Lord would amazingly surprise you both with strength that only comes from Him. can we please have a phone date this week!? I miss you so much.
Love, Mere
love i am thinking of you and praying for these moments, that god is giving you peace and serenity in it all.... call when you feel like it. love you
Hey sweetheart...
You are doing a great job with the blog. I just wanted to respond to this one...well one, because I've never responded to anything on the blog before, and two, I had a couple of notes to make on this one. First and most important...in the first paragraph, 3rd to last sentence...I am no soldier, haha. I knew what you meant. And to those of you whole read this blog and wondered about Margot and I's communication...well, here I am...haha. Well at least for a couple of days, communication is pretty easy as I am on a large and well established FOB. In the next couple of days I'll be heading out to a slightly more remote area, but really there isn't too much roughing it here in Iraq anymore...we have been here for quite some years now. Anyway, I just wanted to thank all of you for your prayers, especially for Margot...as I feel like this time is harder on the wives and families than on my men and I. She is a very strong woman and I am very blessed to have her, but I thank you for encouraging her though this all. Thanks again, and don't forget, I am no soldier;)
